Bangetsu Tei’s Newest Album Release and Live Performance Crowdfunding Campaign!

What is Bangetsu Tei?

https://bangetsurecords.tumblr.com

Bangetsu Tei is a sibling musical group consisting of Kyounosuke Yoshitate, a gender-ambiguous male vocalist who uses unique intonation, a gender-neutral voice, and can sing a wide range of music from rock to traditional Japanese classics, and his sister Fuyu, a flexible and multitalented lyricist who is known for her dazzling and dignified lyrical style and also specializes in writing media targeted for women.

Yoshitate Kyounosuke

Fuyu

Lyricist and Scenario Writer

Graduated from Aoyama Gakuin Women’s Junior College with a degree in Japanese Literature, had an honorable mention for the 51st Tanka Kenkyu Shinjin Prize, and was the first prize winner for the Ghost Story Tanka contest on Twitter commemorating the launch of Mei (冥) Magazine. With her experience in poetry, her forte is her lyrical usage of both literary and colloquial styles. She co-founded Bangetsu Tei in 2012, collaborating with traditional Japanese musicians, illustrators, film directors, and swordfight choreographers and actors. Fuyu’s constantly expanding scenario writing activities include her contributions to idol training games and romance puzzle games.

February of last year marked our first ever crowdfunding campaign to cover production costs of our first major release album Byakurenshō

We were able to successfully create and release our first major album Byakurenshō, a traditional Japanese style album using historical figures as a theme, in our very first step into the world of crowdfunding due to your financial and vocal support.

Having established the album’s concept as “a journey into the past” starting from ancient history and ending at the final days of the Edo period, we selected the historical figures listed below, and wrote songs telling their stories. We did our best to emulate the lyrical and literary styles of the era in which each figure lived when composing the songs.

Himiko

…the Queen of Yamatai

Abe no Seimei

…sorcerer from the Heian period

Nasu no Yoichi

…master archer from the late Heian period

Akechi Mitsuhide

…retainer of Oda Nobunaga and mastermind of the “Honnōji incident”

Kobayakawa Hideaki

…the young commander who changed sides to the eastern army, swaying the outcome of the battle of Sekigahara

Date Masamune

…the founding member of the Sendai domain, also known as “The One-Eyed Dragon”

Hijikata Toshizō

…vice-commander of the Shinsengumi paramilitary force

To go along with the release of Byakurenshō , we also made a music video for the Date Masamune themed song “Shoryū ni Tsukitatsu”. The music video featured Imari Yū as Date Masamune, also known by the epithet “The One-Eyed Dragon”. Yū is also known for playing roles such as Nagasone Kotetsu in the musical Tōkenranbu.

We are now hosting a similar crowdfunding campaign to help fund our second album planned for release in June of this year!

We now hope that with everybody’s kind support, we will be able to produce our second album. The composition of all songs on this album will be done by the energetic musician and writer Teniwoha, known for his first hit “Kosho Yashiki Satsujin Jiken feat. Hatsune Miku”.

The theme of this album is “The Brilliance of Life”. With this album we are attempting a new way of expression based on the ideas and feelings cultivated during the production of Byakurenshō.

Kuroda Kanbei & Takeuchi Hanbei

…two military strategists with interwoven fates

Amakusa Shirō

…leader of the Catholic Shimabara Rebellion

Okita Svji

...savant swordsman of the shinsengumi who succumbed to tuberculosis

Tōshūsai Sharaku

…enigmatic painter of ukio-e pictures during the most prosperous span of the Edo period

Akutagawa Ryūnosuke & Dazai Osamu

…literary masters who greatly influenced modern Japanese writing

Ukita Hideie

...noble of the Sengoku period who became a war criminal after his defeat at Sekigahara

(Ukita Hideie was voted on and decided by fans and supporters!)
